News Updates
With the release of API 624 in 2014, we are seeing an increase in testing of valves from around the globe. We have increased staff and equipment to expedite testing of all the required sizes. With the certification to API 624 for gate and globe valves being a requirement and not an option, the time is now to schedule your tests.
API 641 was released in 2016 and will be a common test for quarter-turn valves needing to meet Low-E requirements. The test consists of 3 thermal cycles to 500F (or lower depending upon valve ratings). Maximum allowed leakage is 100 PPMv with 0 allowable packing adjustments. This standard will start to make its way into design standards, like API 608, so will become mandatory for those products.
ISO 15848-1 and -2 standards released their 2nd editions in June of 2015. There have been some significant changes. CO1 endurance class has reduced the number of mechanical cycles to 210, and PPMv levels have been included for methane tests.
Even with oil prices being where they are, our API 6A PR2 and 16C testing services have been busy. New gate valves, chokes, actuators and seal materials are being testing and existing products are expanding their temperature qualifications.
Some staffing changes have occurred, with Molly Wasielewski, Project Manager, being responsible for keeping projects and shipments flowing smoothly. Dean Frank has been promoted to Lab Manager and oversees the 3 other Technician/Engineers in the test lab. Owner, Matt Wasielewski oversees everything, maintaining the high standards that our customers expect and deserve.
Fire testing to all API standards (607, 6FA, 6FB, 6FD) and ISO 10497 can be performed at Yarmouth. Our reputation around the world for fire testing is unsurpassed.
